She was born Aug. 24, 1929 as Princess Alix Marie Anne Antonia Charlotte Gabrielle of Luxembourg @ Berg Castle, Luxembourg, as the 6th + youngest child of Grand Duchess Charlotte of Luxembourg & Prince Felix of Luxembourg, Prince of Bourbon-Parma. She spent her early years @ Schloss Berg. At the onset of WWII & the German invasion of Luxembourg on May 10, 1940, the family fled to find refuge in the USA., living on Long Island, NY. She attended Catholic schools in New York, Montreal (Canada) & London (England, UK) before Luxembourg was liberated in 1945 and they returned home on Apr. 14, 1945. She was engaged to marry Prince Antoine de Ligne on Apr. 18, 1950. They were married on Aug. 17, 1950 @ the Grand Ducal Palace, Luxembourg City (Civil Wedding) & Luxembourg’s Cathedral, Luxembourg City (Roman Catholic Wedding). He was the younger son of Eugene, 11th Prince de Ligne, and succeeded as the 13th Prince de Ligne in 1985 following the death of his unmarried brother. After their honeymoon they lived @ Schloss Beloeil, Belgium. They had 7 children: Michel 14th Pr. of Ligne (1951), Pr.Wauthier de Ligne (1952), Pss Anne de Ligne (1954), Pss Christine de Ligne (1955), Pss Sophie de Ligne (1957), Pr.Antoine de Ligne (1959) & Pss Yolande de Ligne (1964). Her husband died in 2005. She is survived by her 7 children, 19 of her 20 grandchildren & 12 great-grandchildren, along with 2 of her siblings (GD Jean of Luxembourg & Dwgr Ctss Marie-Gabrielle of Holstien-Ledreborg).
