He had undergone major surgery earlier this year at a clinic in Milan, after which he returned hom to Castiglion Fibocchi. On May 27 he was admitted to San Donato Hospital in Arezzo for minor surgery, which was completed successfully. He was scheduled to be released today but suffered a fatal heart attack this morning. He was the 1st cousin of K.Constantine II of Greece, King Michael I of Romania, Q.Sofia of Spain Pss of Greece + Denmark & Queen Alexandra of Yugoslavia Pss of Greece. He was born on Sep. 27, 1943 as Prince Amedeo Umberto Constantino Giorgio Paolo Elena Maria Fiorenzo Zvonimir of Savoy-Aosta @ Florence, Italy, as the only child of Prince Aimone of Savoy, 4th Duke of Savoy & King of Croatia (as Tomislav II) (1900-1948) & Princess Irene of Greece + Denmark (1904-1974), who married in 1939. His paternal grandparents were: Prince Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy, 2nd Duke of Aosta & Princess Helene of Orleans. His maternal grandparents were: King Constantine I of the Hellenes (Greece) & Princess Sophie of Prussia. He married firstly to Pss Claude of Orleans (b. Dec.11, 1943 in Larache, Morocco) [daughter of Prince Henri of Orleans, Count of Paris & Princess Isabelle of Orleans-Braganza] on July 22, 1964 @ Sintra, Portugal. They had 3 children together: Pss Bianca of Savoy-Aosta Ctss Arrivabene-Valenti-Gonzaga (b. Apr.2, 1966 @ Florence, Italy; m.1988 to Ct.Giberto Arrivabene-Valenti-Gonzaga); Pr.Aimone of Savoy-Aosta Dk of Apulia (b. Oct.13, 1967 @ Florence; m. 2008 to Pss Olga of Greece); & Pss Mafalda of Savoy-Aosta (b. Sep. 20, 1969 @ Florence; married 1st in 1994 to Alessandro Ruffo di Calabria, divorced; married 2nd in 2001 to Nob. Francesco Lombardo di San Chirico). They separated on July 20, 1976, obtained a civil divorce on Apr. 26, 1982 & an annulment from the Holy See on Jan. 8, 1987. He married 2nd to Silvia Paterno di Spedalotto dei Marchesi di Reggiovanni (b. Dec.31, 1953 @ Palermo, Sicily) on Mar. 30, 1987, they did not have any children together. He was also the father of 2 children born from extramarital relationships: Piero Incisa della Rocchetta (b. Nov.30, 1967 @ Florence) with Nobile Nerina Corsini (1942-2014), & Ginevra van Ellinkuizen (b. Mar. 16, 2006 @ Milan) with Kyara van Ellinkuizen (b.1967). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Viola Arrivabene-Valenti-Gonzaga (b.1991), Vera Arrivabene-Valenti-Gonzaga (b.1993), Mafalda Arrivabene-Valenti-Gonzaga (b.1997), Maddalena Arrivabene-Valenti-Gonzaga (b.2000), Leonardo Arrivabene-Valenti-Gonzaga (b.2001), Pr.Umberto of Savoy-Aosta Pr of Piedmont (b.2009), Pr.Amedeo of Savoy-Aosta Dk of Abruzzi (b.2011), Pss Isabella of Savoy-Aosta (b.2012), Nob. Anna Lombardo di San Chirico (b.1999), Nob. Carlo Lombardo di San Chirico (b.2001) & Nob. Elena Lombardo di San Chirico (b.2003).
